The current political climate around the globe, especially in Germany, has created a lot of hatred and Xenophobia in our cities. With the current influx of immigrants to Berlin and the world’s big cities, plus globalization at its peak we can only expect these numbers of mass migrations to grow. Instead of building walls to isolate ourselves, we should be looking at the future possibilities through cultural fusion.
> BRINGING THE CONCEPT TO THE CITY
> REALTIME ONLINE_ENGAGEMENT WITH BERLINERS
The Walls social media presence is conducted to inform the people about current problems and show that the wall’s concept is the solution to a better tomorrow. Real time engagement and response with people not only in Berlin but around the world.
> FACE TO FACE PORTRAIT SERIES
We started a portrait series where we went out into the street talking to people about their concerns for Berlin. The images that we then could place face to face on our social media. Using real people from Berlin to show and celebrate the city's diversity.
>> ART INSTALLATION
We created an experience space in Berlin, with the help of local street artist. Participants walked into a room divided in half by wall in complete darkness. Forcing them interact with people in an anonymous way. When people interact anonymously they are not allowed to create prejudices and judge. Creating a personal, human to human experience. The participants are then able to pass through the wall and face the person they interacted with. We first have to establish the wall concept in a personal way before it can be understood on a global scale.
Special thanks to the people of XI DESIGN BERLIN for letting use their space and helping us create this art exhibit.
